greentechmedia reports that President-elect Obama’s draft stimulus plan has billions for the US smart grid, aka infrastructure that helps us better understand and potentially reduce the amount of energy we use.
The draft bill includes $32 billion aimed at improving the nation’s transmission grid, and “of that, $4.5 billion is directed specifically at grants for projects that enable utilities and their customers to track and manage the flow of energy more effectively, curb peak demand, reduce blackouts and integrate renewable energy and storage (including electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle batteries) into the grid.”
The US Department of Energy sees smart grid infrastructure as a way to, among other things, reduce carbon emissions.Infrastructure
